Training 2004

Going the distance

After a good year in 2003 and relatively injury free, this years plan is to put in a few more miles and race longer.  The first 1/3 of the season will include the Dirty Duo (solo, 25 km trail run/30 km Mt. Bike, Mount Seymore) March 6, the Vancouver Sun Run (10 km, Placer Dome Corporate Team, April 18) and The Adidas Vancouver 1/2 Marathon, May 2.  Possibly the New Balance 1/2 Ironman June 19.  Paul Cross helped with the yearly plan and Blair Scott is going to work with me on the ride.

The dirty duo was long and hard, hurt the knee a bit during the run and suffered the whole ride, a 4 and a half hour event turned into 6 and a half! ouch!!

Ran the sun run with Kyo Jibiki on virtually no training, we kept it steady for  42:16 for both of us, that helped placer dome to a fourth place finish in the corporate division.

June 5, 2004, The bavarian bike and brew festival in leavenworth washington was a blast.  Blair and I both took part and came in 1 and 2 overall in the 17.2 mile sport division race... I guess next year we have to go pro!

Congrats to Henrik Van Weisin, for a 2:56 in the stockholm marathon (his second)... can you believe he gave up body building for running : )

September 19,  2004, back to school sprint triathlon held on campus (pacific sprint triathlon www.lep.ca), came in 7th with some steady even splits, gotta get the aerobars on!

Friday October 1st, 3rd overall in the Inogural 5km run of the MILK noon run series, blistering time of 16:14 (i have to say that the course might have been a tad short : )

Saturday October 2nd, Oxaca Chacalaka longboat team, 4th and 2nd place finishes in our first two events, not bad, our second race was in a time of 13:29, we were right up there!
